Project Democracy 2018

This past week,February 13-16, the Green Party of Bay County Representative, Henry Lawrence,  participated in presentations hosted by Mark Anderson, Supervisor of Elections, at seven of our local High Schools. Next week we visit three more; Rutherford HS, Rosenwald HS and Bay Haven Charter HS to complete this annual voter registration and education program. We started the week on Tuesday with Haney Vocational Technical HS students and Bay High School students and both were very receptive. On Wednesday we visited Mosley High School where the students hosted us in their brand new Arts Center auditorium and were also very receptive. Thursday we shared our presentations with New Horizons HS and Palm Bay HS students who were also very receptive and had great questions. To finish out the week we visited Arnold HS and Deane Bozeman K-12 where we were once again very welcomed and had many students follow up with questions even after our official talks and Q&A. What an Amazing Week!!

Each month the Coordinating Council of GPFL holds a telephone conference. Since these conferences help decide GPFL policy, makes decisions that affect Florida Greens, and assigns key positions to GPFL Board members, it’s important members of the Green Party of Bay County are aware of what is happening at the state level.

23 December 20123 Coordinating Council telephone conference:

(1)  Nominations are now open for GPFL female co-chair.  Nominations will close at the end of December 31st, 2013.  We request that candidates send the Council their statements by that time.  Voting will continue through the end of January 5.

The new co-chair is to serve out the remainder of Anita’s full term, ending May 2015.

So far, Kelly Duncan, Rose Roby and Julia Trujillo have been nominated, and have accepted.

(2)  “PROPOSAL: Withdrawal of Approval of Jennifer Sullivan Representing GPFL” was passed by consensus.  Steve and myself are delegated the task of notifying the relevant parties, in line with our handling of Anita’s resignation.

(3)  Chris Eiler has been added to the CC list as an observer.

(4)  The GPFL is revising its previous preference for having a single signer on our Achieva credit union account to having two persons. Steve Showen shall remain on the account as an authorized user, along with Harry Patterson as the official signer.

The Editorial Board will meet this Sunday, December 29, to discuss the David Kline contracts, and to see if we can officially launch the new website by January 1.
